Reuters publishes my photos and story (my words!) of a three and a half week self-pitched assignment covering the Lakota people (Sioux) who rode from Green Grass, South Dakota to Fort Laramie, Wyoming, over 400 miles, to commemorate a treaty signed by their ancestors 150 years ago.
 
     Riding with Native Americans to mark pact anniversary
         Six weeks covering Native Americans at Standing Rock, North Dakota, protesting the Dakota Access oil pipeline presented a unique opportunity to get to know many of the people who took a stand there.
